Modalities

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a highly researched, evidence based approach designed to help couples shift out of distressing conflict patterns and into more effective ways of communicating and connecting. At the core, EFT focuses on establishing secure attachments in adult intimate relationships and understanding how our life experiences shape our learned interactive styles (attachment styles) that can affect the way we relate in adulthood. EFT helps partners recognize underlying emotions and needs in the relationship that fuel conflicts and share them in a way that breaks down walls and builds closeness and connection together. With this awareness of ourselves and our partners, we are better able to learn new ways of interacting and consciously create the type of securely functioning relationship we want. We can more effectively navigate difficult, vulnerable emotions and turn the things that might typically be the root of conflicts into opportunities for deepening intimacy and strengthening security in the relationship.
  • Across cultures, partners in relationships fight for the same things- to be seen, heard, valued, and loved. As humans we are wired for connection and thrive most when we have security in our intimate relationships. We are more effective in pursuing our individual identities, goals, dreams, passions, and interests when we have a secure base to explore from.
  • EFT is not just for couples. It can be highly effective on an individual level and in many types of close or intimate relationships. Our interactive styles can affect us in many aspects of our lives and the need for security is not exclusive to being in a relationship. If you are interested in learning more about yourself and/or developing effective ways to enhance or create healthy relationships in your life, EFT can help.
